Honoured to have been invited to create sculptures for this conceptual art film by Matt Clark
(of United Visual Artists / Another Space).
This project delved into themes of transformation, seamlessly merging real and virtual elements to craft a transcendent visual experience. Working in close collaboration with visionary artistic director Chris Davenport and cinematographer James Medcraft we created a series of sculptures that were then 3d mapped.
Their technical team developed an innovative orbiting mechanism that anchored the film’s symbolic journey. This journey was constructed using scanned and reprojected versions of James Blake and Bon Iver, creating a mesmerizing interplay between the physical and digital realms. The orbiting LED structure facilitated a dialogue between light, object, and shadow, seamlessly blending in-camera sculptures with virtual imagery. The steady, metronomic orbit established a consistent visual tempo that enhanced the film’s meditative and dreamlike rhythm.
Each sculpture was meticulously crafted to integrate with the virtual animations, embodying the piece’s ethereal and introspective narrative while amplifying the profound emotional resonance of the music..
